Peter Thomas Gromer
An award-winning composer, producer, musical software innovator and multi-instrumentalist, Peter’s music has been featured at large cinemas and small living rooms in well over 30 countries around the world with his lyrical orchestral voice as well as his gripping music for true crime dramas.
He is well known in Germany for popular crime formats like Polizeiruf 110, CSI Stuttgart, as well as Tatort which was nominated for the acclaimed Grimme Award in 2020. He is also a two-time nominee for the German Film Score Award, in the categories “Best Score” and “Best Song”.
His profound love for animated film lead to the orchestral score for the animated short Urs, shortlisted for an Academy Award® for “Best Animated Short 2011” and Winner of “Best Original Score” at the Espinho International Film Festival. To date he has scored well over a hundred television productions, feature films, commercials and animated shorts.
His journey also led him to share his knowledge as an educator, known and loved by his students for his creative approach teaching Improvisation, Theory and Composition at several Universities before gaining tenure at the renowned Bern Academy of the Arts in 2011.
When not writing for film Peter is an inspired pioneer in the realm of cutting-edge music technology. As Co-founder and musical mind behind “Nextmidi,” a creative music technology company, his expertise drives the company’s journey towards reshaping the landscape of music creation.
He lives with his wife and his two sons in West Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

Prime Time TV Movie and TV Series
“Police Call” or “Scene of the Crime” is the Sunday Prime Time movie on German National Television One. It has been running since before I was born. Besides the expected suspense cues, there is a significant number of emotional and dramatic cues as well.
“CSI Stuttgart” is a weekly TV series for which I had the luck to be co-lead composer from Season 1.

Animation
Urs is one of the first animated films I wrote music for. It was very successful and shortlisted 6th (Commended Film) for an Academy Award for Best Animated Short in 2011.
Zoo is my first collaboration with the Jordanian animated film director Tariq Rimawi.

The official Mercedes CLS 2011 campaign (TV and Cinema), broadcasted worldwide. A heroic, modern and memorable orchestral anthem. The theatrical preroll ads work with a reduced, Jon Brion-influenced underscoring.
Things is one of the very few companies that has won two Apple Design Awards® for its highly praised and worldwide beloved app "Things". The concept was to match its beauty and simplicity, almost like writing a new Nina Simone song.
